Unexplained Phenomenon
The "Rain of Fish" has been reported throughout the world for centuries; however, scientific explanations of why the phenomenon occurs, are few. One hypothesis suggests originates with waterspouts, tornadoes that move over water and that would suck the little creatures below the surface to deposit them elsewhere. However, waterspouts are not known to carry their water load over long distances and in any case, not be applicable to Yoro, located about 200 kilometers off the coast of the Caribbean Sea.
